ME.

Hi. I’m Shannon. I love all things artsy. I paint. I like to volunteer. I like to give. My perfect "job" would involve me using art to change lives. I'm considering going back to school to study Art. I studied Marketing at the illustrious North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. Aggie Pride! My current job has absolutely nothing to do with marketing :(. But I'm grateful to have a job that's paying all my bills and then some :). I love cultural events. I like to travel to places I've never been. I keep a journal on me at all times to jot down my many random ideas. I looooooove music! Music festivals in the summer time....man. Marvin Gaye is my favorite artist. I love to listen to instrumentals...they inspire me the most. Some of my favorite producers are Floyd the Locsmif, Nicolay, Nujabes, Fat Jon, and Slakah the Beatchild...oh and Muhsinah. I love her. When I'm in my feelings, I listen to "In A Sentimental Mood" by Duke Ellington and John Coltrane lol. Pandora frustrates me...but now that I know her, I can't let her go. I MUST learn how to play the guitar. After listening to music and painting, laughing might be my next favorite thing to do. I like going to museums and art galleries. The beach is my favorite place to be...it makes me happy :). I prefer CDs over digital music. I prefer books with pages I can fold, flip through, and highlight. I'll never be a nooker or a kindler lol. I'm addicted to HGTV...it's like the only channel I watch. I rarely watch TV. I'm not quiet...I just like to talk when I have something to say. Most people have no idea how silly I really am...I think only my brother truly knows. I have slight road rage...just a little...for non-knowing-how-to-merge, slowing down at yellow lights, speeding up as soon as I put my blinker on drivers. I'm black...and I'm proud. I'm kind of addicted to natural hair blogs, vlogs, and tumblrs. I want to start a jewelry line...one day. I'm an interior designer, photographer, music producer, and music video producer in my imagination. Loyalty is very important to me. Honesty is very important to me. Gumption yes gumption...is very important to me. I want to have a lot of kids. I don’t think love is an emotion. It’s a choice. I love my family. I love my friends. I love me. I like to do a lot of things solo...I’m a loner. I suck at calling people...calling people back...and I’m not actively trying to get better at it. I just really don’t like to talk on the phone. The older I get, the less patience I have for loud and crowded places...it sucks lol. I enjoy a good conspiracy theory. I try my best to treat others how I wish to be treated. I’m an encourager. I want to be better at loving the unsavory characters...you know the people that make it hard for you to love them. I’m God’s child. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose again and, through Him only, we are saved. God is my Ace.

One major roadblock in life is a lack of motivation. Another is a lack of inspiration. Many of us want to do something great. We may or may not feel we are capable but, what great thing should we be doing?...and why? Will anyone even notice? What will people think? Will it make a difference? Is it really worth all the effort?  

I have asked myself these questions many times. In growing closer to God, I believe more and more that I was created in response to His plans and that He has a purpose for my life. We all have a purpose. We all have something we were made to accomplish while we are here.

Whether you are an athlete, actor, singer, secretary, painter, teacher, or stay-at-home mom, you have the power to change lives and make a difference. With this blog, I aim to inspire and be inspired...to shed light on all things inspirational in hopes that you and I will be moved to be the best at what we were created to be. It’s about exploration, creativity, education, awareness, progression, motivation, inspiration, unity, and...glass half fullness lol.
