Everyone's An Artist | Wrap It Up

Today, I'm going to show you how to make a piece of artwork using fabric and some canvases. I literally just finished this like 5 minutes ago lol. This wasn't hard to do at all. You're just wrapping fabric, pinning, and then stapling.

Tadaaaaa....

Materials:

• Assorted canvases - I used four canvases (14" x 18", 9" x 12", and 2  5" x 7"). I bought them from Michaels. 
• Fabric- I bought one yard of fabric from Hancock Fabrics. 
• Staple gun- I also got this from Hancock Fabrics. 
• Thumbtacks
• Scissors  

Instructions:

1. Lay your fabric facedown and then lay your canvas facedown on top of the fabric. If you desire certain parts of the fabric to be displayed on the front of the canvas, make sure you line the canvas up with that part of the fabric.

2. Cut out the fabric using the canvas as your guide and be sure to leave enough fabric to wrap around the canvas and staple. *as shown in picture for step 1*

3. Tack the fabric to the canvas with your thumbtacks to hold it in place. Turn over the canvas just to look and make sure you're satisfied with how its placed and that it's pulled tight enough. My tacks are clear so it's probably hard to see but they're there I promise lol.

4. Add one staple to the center of each side and then flip it over again to be sure it looks good from the front. You actually want to keep doing this every couple of staples just to be sure the side that actually matters looks okay and that there is no slack in the fabric. 

5. Add more staples. You want them to be about a 1/2" apart. When you add one staple, go to the opposite side of the canvas and add another staple, being sure to lightly pull on the fabric so that it fits snuggly around the canvas. Continue checking the front every few staples. The staple distance doesn't have to be perfect...mine surely wasn't. As long as the front looks good you're ok. No one will see your shoddy staple work in the back lol.

6. Fold your corners. Now, I have no idea how to really explain what I did here...and there was no one around to record it. Here is a picture of what my fold looks like. I just tucked everything under the flap I made. Fold the corners in whatever way you want, as long as it lays flat against the back of the canvas.

7. Remove all your thumbtacks (if you didn't do that along the way) and hang it up :)

You can do this with one large canvas or buy tons of different sized ones to cover up. You can also add a frame to it, then you won't have to worry about how the corners of your canvas are wrapped.
